Biography
Dr. Sushmita G Shah is Director, Eye Life and Senior Consultant in Cornea, Cataract, Lasik, and Ocular Surface. She specialises in Advanced Lamellar Corneal Transplantation Techniques such as DMEK, DSAEK, DALK and Penetrating keratoplasty. She is also proficient in advanced corneal surgeries including Ocular surface reconstruction, Keratoconus management etc. She is also an expert in Cataract surgery and Refractive surgery including LASIK, Femto-LASIK, SMILE and ICL implantation.
She is trained from some of the best academic institutes in India and Abroad. Following her Ophthalmology training from the prestigious, Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, she has done Cornea and Anterior Segment fellowship at L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. Dr. Sushmita Shah has specialised in cornea and refractive surgery from Massachusetts Eye and Ear at the esteemed Harvard Medical School in USA.
She is a prolific speaker who has been invited to present in various National and International Conference including World Cornea Congress 2025 held at Washington DC, European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), Asia Cornea Society, Cornea Society of India amongst many others.
She is actively involved in Translational Research in the area of Corneal and Ocular Surface and is a recipient of numerous award and Research grants.

She is on the editorial board of the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology.
She is a member of Cornea Society, All India Ophthalmological Society, Bombay Ophthalmologist’s Association, Maharashtra Ophthalmological Society, Cornea Society of India, Women’s Ophthalmological Society and Ophthalmological Society of West Bengal.
